Shiela Martina Keaise was born and raised in Walterboro, South Carolina. She is the product of South Carolina Universities receiving a Bachelor of Science from Claflin University, a Masters of Science from South Carolina State University, and a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of South Carolina-Columbia. Ms. Shiela has worked as Children’s Librarian for more than 20 years at the Colleton County Memorial Library. She enjoys singing, acting, and writing, which she incorporates on a regular basis. Ms. Shiela is known around the state as the Singing Storyteller.
Shiela Martina is the pen name (and preferred name) for the Hannah and Dexter series. However, she has written 11 children’s books and 1 adult book. Miss Shiela’s thought provoking children’s book shows the effects of working together, promoting literacy, encouraging respect of individual differences, and accepting one another’s opinions.
