Description of Training: The most important goal of an early childhood curriculum is to help children become enthusiastic learners. Since creativity stands a far better chance of succeeding in a receptive environment, childcare providers with hands-on techniques that involve creative plans to expose children to a sense of self can be established with a creative curriculum. A creative curriculum will teach children how to notice things-how to hear things, how to deal with their senses by using basic techniques that encourages creativity to flourish.

Description of Training: Because self-publishing is a perfect example of the American dream, it is one of the most rewarding experience. Being published gives a sense of accomplishment and self-worth. Thus, this workshop will provide a guide to help participants navigate the world of publishing to successfully publish a book.

Description of Training: One sure way that children learn is through words (spoken or read). Children learn best when they have a good self-image, are accepted by others, given opportunities to discover, explore and be challenged, and are offered a rich environment with the freedom to learn.

Title of training : Creating a Storytelling Experience

Topic area of training : Professional Development Hours : 1.0, 2.5

Description of Training: Storytelling is a wonderful tool to express who you are and what you want to share with others. “The only way to become a storyteller is to tell stories. The way to become a better storyteller is to learn new storytelling skills. And the way to become the best storyteller is to develop your own storytelling techniques.” If all or the later is your goal, then the best way to become all of these is to explore ways to create a storytelling experience using different story formats.

Description of Training: Self-esteem makes a person feel good, look good, be effective, and be productive. By combining self-confidence and self-respect, the level of self-esteem rises. Before attempting change or improving their self-image, children must accept themselves as they are and build their self-esteem.

Description of Training: Books are supposed to give enlightenment, entertainment and information with authenticity and accuracy. When the best books are chosen for children, child-care providers should look for books that will help children learn new words, explore original illustrations, spark their imagination, and initiate their analytical skills (thinking of what comes next). Thus, choosing the best books will require research and thought.

Description of Training: To use a variety of techniques that explore diversity in children’s books, child-care providers should consider the socio-economic, religion, culture, family and health situations of the children they serve. Using diversity in children’s literature will promote an understanding of self, others, and the world around; thus, giving children a foundation of self-esteem, self-awareness, and an appreciation for others.

Title of training : Health and Nutrition, The Duo

Topic area of training : Nutrition Hours : 2.5

Description of Training: Good nutrition means proper growth, energy, prevention of deficiency diseases, and resistance to infection. Good health includes being physically active, eating foods that are low in fat, rich in fiber and moderate in calories. Thus, health and nutrition are a perfect duo for a happy, productive child.

Title of training : Music and Phonological Awareness

Description of Training: Music teaches children about rhythm, patterns, and their world. Learn about the importance of music when exposing children (infant to 3 years old) to phonological awareness using words, movements, instruments, and sounds.

Description of Training: Since children learn fast, the earlier they learn safety the more likely they are to be accident free. From learning the right color of signs to body safety to bullying, teachers will find creative ways to help children say safe at home, school, and on the street.

Description of Training: How you manage your time will determine how successful you are at completing your goals daily, weekly, annually and in your lifetime. Child-care providers must learn to manage their time in order to be successful early educators, role-models and professionals. Time management will also help to eliminate feeling overwhelmed by workloads, deadlines, and disappointed directors, which will reduce stress.

Description of Training: Eating a rainbow of colors means a nutritious way for children to explore the variety of fruits and vegetables that are necessary for a healthy life. Color me healthy is an excellent way to communicate with children about the importance of physical activity and new types of nutritious books.

Title of training : Strategies for Behavior Modification

Description of Training: Adults begin to use behavior modification techniques the younger the children are, because they work better and are more effective. This training will focus on providing strategies to help teachers address and identify behavioral and emotional problems found in preschool and adolescent children and the proper strategies to address them.

Part 2 offers a detailed account into the specifics on filling out forms to successfully complete the process and publish your book.

Title of training : Learning Library Skills

Topic area of training : Curriculum Hours : 1, 2.5, 3.0

Description of Training: Giving children a good sense of what the library has to offer through programming, books, audiovisuals and magazines is an excellent way to build reading and listening skills. However, learning library skills require knowledge of techniques that can easily be presented by librarians. These include proper etiquette for library behavior, and library procedures in checking out, locating, and finding appropriate library books.
